Nadira (5 December 1932 – 9 February 2006) was an Indian film actress. She was born as Florence Ezekiel Nadira in Baghdad, Iraq to a Baghdadi Jewish family.
Nadira made her debut in the Hindi film industry in 1952 with the film Aan. She became famous for her role of Queen Janaki in the film Pakeezah in 1972. She acted in over 70 films in her career spanning four decades.
Nadira was known for her striking appearance and style, often sporting western clothes and short hair in an era where long hair and traditional attire was the norm in Bollywood. She was also known for her western accent and unique dialogue delivery.
In 2004, she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Motion Picture Editors’ Association. Nadira died in 2006 due to a cardiac arrest at the age of 73.
